PIRBRIGHT WALK - DR LIVINGSTONE, I PRESUME?
SABRE-led walk Step in the footsteps of Sir Henry Morton Stanley who found Dr Livingstone in Africa with those famous words. He had a farm in Pirbright and we walk from the village green to the church where he is buried, where his grave is marked with a large granite gravestone inscribed 'Bula Matari'. This walk is a pleasant mixture of farmland, pinewoods and heathland. If you wish, finish with a drink at one of Stanley’s local pubs. | 5 miles Leisurely trek, possibly some jungle swamps en route |

ONCE A-POND A TIME
(Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the prettiest of them all?) SABRE-led walk It's Friday Street which has been described as the smallest, prettiest and most remote hamlet in Surrey. We go past the mill pond and walk through an ancient landscape of woods, hills and heaths. A pub lunch at Holmbury St Mary should set us up for the return via the giant's castle (really it's Leith Hill tower). PUB LUNCH | 8 miles Some ups and downs but there is a happy ending.
